Nice to have wild life and bat's in your garden the Cinbar moth is very pretty is nt it.

Is that his name? Cinbar moth?
I started out in gardening by using chemicals & trying to control everything but I'm so glad I progressed & learned to love my weeds! I guess it's a luxury for the tiny urban garden not to mow the grass & to encourage wild stuff but it really is becoming a thing of love for me.
If the garden's messy, overgrown & disorganised then that represents me...

Yes it's the Cinbar moth Darren 8 I am pleased to hear you have give up the chemicals. Yes it's lovely to see the flowers growing amongst long grass your not on your own in my city the council have done the same on our round abouts and the centre verges of some A roads all the men going to work and back have written in to our local Telegraph saying they love it.

I've been trying to grow genuine native wildflowers but it seems the seed mixes I've bought contain a lot of just ordinary annual self seeders, which I'm okay with as long as wildlife likes them.
As an upside I've now got some teeny plants with flowers that are only a couple of millimetres across. Took me a while to notice them but I'm thinking they're precious?

Here is a link for you. I bought two bags from Dobbies but not many flowered I mixed them in my new grass but I bought some in the little packets and they grew much better. Some of the pound shop box wild seeds don't normally grow at all always check the dates on packets or boxes. You could always try wild meadow sees or buy the turf with it already mixed in but it is expensive. As you say as long as the wild life love them that's all that counts.

I'm also finding that slightly overseeding in 10-12 inch pots using old, spent compost & then dotting them around the grass gives me good first year growth & flowers & then whatever self seeds more widely is a bonus! Also the pot creates a dead patch in the grass that's perfect for sprinkling any collected seed once the pots are over

What a great idea you ve got going there at least they flower. You could drill holes in your grass and plant bulb s for spring by drilling holes it does nt disrupt the grass so much my son is going to do for me or grandson.

Don't laugh but in a slightly boozy online shopping session I bought one of those bulb planter gadgets to do exactly that. Haven't used it yet...

Lol yes they are OK if your soil is soft I do have a bub planter come to think of it thanks for the reminder.
