Grew these from seeds. Liked the look of it so picked up a packet then got home and read the back lol. Not many germinated. Said on packet ideal for growing in a pond in a pot. I don't have a pond anymore but had this 1/2 barrel made into a sort of water feature left by previous owners of the house so thought i would give it a try. Happy how they seem to like it there. Will have to think of how to over winter them

That's good to know. My only worry is all the water froze last year in the barrel.

What a good idea to use the barrel. I hope it does overwinter - its lovely.

Gives a lovely effect in that barrel looks like a sherry barrel.

The margins on our pond did too Jen. It still survived. I think the secret is not to have it too deep.

Thank you all. The barrel was set up as water feature by previous owner with the iris in it. Didn't like how it looked, pump was broken. It is sat on a slab that covers the old garden well and we haven't had the guts to have a look yet. Think it will be now a wait and see with fingers crossed lol 😀

We have this in our pond Jen, in the margin. I just left it alone over winter then gave it a trim in spring. It's been fine. Good luck with yours!
