A tiny plant, just a couple of inches high, growing from a small tuber. Needs a well-drained soil with perhaps some shade for the tuber in hot summers. Unlikely though it seems, this is related to berberis

That's so pretty and dainty looking one up it seems to grow in a clump which looks wonderful.
