Possibly the hardiest of the agave family, this species will take -8C in the winter, provided it is kept dry. It stays in this pot in the centre of my foliage garden with an open cover that keeps the rain off, but allows the air to circulate around the plant. So far, it has come through four winters successfully, including the 'Beast from the East'
