I am so jealous. I have been looking for a white soldanella for a few years. I get very excited when I see them offered for sale only to find they have sold out. I have tried growing from seed but no luck there. Your one is lovely have you had it a long time? Just checked Edrom have one so I have ordered one.

SG-I'm not sure how long I've had this as it was labelled as a variety that it definitely is not and grown from seed.It may have been from seed or a label mix up.
About 30 seconds after I took this picture,I broke the stem.

That is so sad but I think I can see another stem coming up below.

I'm not so sure.It has taken a while to flower and my other 2 haven't flowered for a while.
I have nowhre in the garden to put them where they won't get swamped, though.

That is a problem. I am having a rethink about my raised alpine bed. I have too much in it which swamps little things. I am trying to work out the best way forward by experimenting with smaller items on the rockery I made using the stone and rubble from the chimney we had to have dismantled and rebuilt. It is difficult to make it look good all year instead of looking abandoned for the winter months. It is only 4' square but rises up to a height of 3' so is probably too small for my needs. Back to the drawing board.

I managed to pick up my Soldanella alpina alba from Edrom yesterday. It is a tiny little plant. They have closed their retail area and all sales are done by mail order, picking up at shows or picking up from the nursery. It is very disappointing but they have to do what is viable. I will post a photo when I take one.

OH spent the afternoon watching the football on tv so I was able to go along and see what was on offer. I don't think there was as much as usual but what was there was superb. I also managed a look at the trade and club stalls. I bought a few new plants but have been too busy to photograph them yet. How tall is your soldanella? What size pot?

the pot is 4 inches diameter and the stem was about 3
