I'm growing this in a sunny spot in well-drained soil, but it should take shade or part shade too. The flowers have a slight but pleasant scent (unlike many aroids that smell of rotting meat). I have had this plant for almost twenty years, and get two or three self sown seedlings annually. Now sold as variety 'Karpathos'
