Bongardia chrysogonum - 2019

An unlikely relation of berberis shrubs, this grows from a small tuber. It needs a sandy soil in full sun, and although it will tolerate drought, excessive wet will cause the tuber to rot. The flowers are carried on nine inch stems, but the leaves are its best feature (see the next photo)

Now I've looked at the the next pic, I do like. The flower must be held well above that gorgeous foliage. Going to look this up, at my leisure.
