Thrupennybit I was very excited when I first made and planted it up but now I think it has too many plants which would like to take over. The pulsatillas are having a great year.

To me it looks lovely less room for weeds to grow to if it's as full as you say I would rather see your Alpines than weeds. 😊
That's great your pulsatillas have done well this year I only have one and agree it to has done better this year must be the right weather for them.

My number one hated weed 'Bishop weed' has taken over the island bed with the daffodils up on the right hand side of the photo. I must tackle it this year or it will be rampaging through the shrubbery across the path.

Is that better known as ground elder? I know vinegar kills weeds or placing carboard over them.

Yes it is the dreaded ground elder. I have invested in a strong weed killer so I am hoping I do not need to dig everything out to get rid of it. I will use a paintbrush to apply it to the leaves as we always seem to have a breeze.

I Thought it would be that dreaded weed. That's good letts hope it kills it for you. Yes a paintbrush would work a treat with having wind it won't affect your other plants. I try and hoe or pick the heads off with my helping hand with weeds before they go to seed and spread with the wind.

I should learn to use my hoe to good effect. With ground elder breaking up the roots would probably just help it to grow more rampantly as it seems to need only the smallest piece to start away again.

Yes just hoe weeds that don't have a evasive root system. Yes I know what you mean if you used a hoe it would make the ground elder worse I have the same with bind weed.
