I do like the Broadleigh range. In pots or the ground? What soil mix do you use for yours? I find they are more demanding than Beardeds.

this one is a mixed bed that would have had quite a lot of grit added but more recently shredded branches as a general mulch ,not specifically for the iris

That's obviously why they are growing so well. I understand that the Beardless Californian Iris (and Hybrids)grow around the edges of wood in the hills, liking a humus rich woodsy soil, getting snow melt water in Spring only, unlike Bearded which can rot with high nitrogen content soil and winter wet.
