Not sure Lori

the leaf shape looks like a prestoniae. the syringa specie (?) have heart shaped leaves and they're smooth..where the prestoneae are more lance shaped with toothed edges. they were developed in Ontario at the Central Experimental Farm in Ottawa by Miss Isabella Preston, a cross of S. reflexa and S. Villosa. circa 1920. they bloom later than the specie. Don't see a lot of them in the northern areas as they're more suited to the warmer winters and can have some dieback from winter damage. The main reason I haven't tried them is that they're more expensive to buy than the regular syringa and chancy for the first few winters.

They're lovely but flowers are here and gone in no time.
