No I was picking up pots that had been blown around and it was on the pot. I wondered what beetle it was and when I consulted my books and my daughter, this is what we came up with.
same with dragonflies and damsels, when they emerge they are dull brown and their colour develops over a couple of hours/days depending on the species.

I keep finding Ladybird larvae in the garden ... funny looking things!

they are weird aren't they. I have lots too, sadly that also means lots of greenfly but hey the blue tits and wrens are also filling their beaks to feed their offspring with them.

I need to educate our garden birds in eating slugs and snails as today I found a Heliopsis scabra Summer Sun, planted in April, is nothing but a skinny stem now . . . :o(
