Acanthus sennii - 2019 (Acanthus sennii)

Native to the mountains of Ethiopia, this needs the sunniest spot in the garden to flower in the UK. The leaves are viciously spiky, even when dead

ideal if you have a corner lot which is used as a short cut. ... no I guess that's too cruel.. I remember family histories from the world wars... one of them was about falling off a motorcycle into a hollyhedge... this looks like it would be worse than that! I'm a fan of A. mollis though.

Sbg - it's an Ethiopian native so not sure how hardy it would be for you. I'm growing it in the sunniest spot in the garden in soil improved with grit. If you'd like a piece of root to try though, I'm happy to send some when it goes dormant
