bird of paradise leaf

I grew this from a tiny baby brought back from teneriffe, 7-8 years ago, it grew really well in a pot outside on the balcony of my old flat for years, did'nt used to protect it or bring it in, so when i moved to the house i planted it at the back of the woodland bed, thinking it would be ok, but no! i lost it during the winter.
