Great choice. This is a self sown (bird sown) seedling. I still have the original one plus another smaller version also a gift from my garden birds. It was one of the first trees I planted in the early days. I relied on Dougal Philip owner of Hopetoun Walled Garden (now New Hopetoun Gardens) to guide me in what would be best to grow to give me year round colour and also be wild life friendly. I highly recommend it.

I now have four amelanchiers in my little back garden. But I have always wanted a mini woodland, so I’m happy! Its always been a dream of mine to have small trees/large shrubs very close to my house, to encourage the birds to come closer etc. You just have to be careful about roots of course.

That is an excellent idea and good choice of trees to achieve your dream. I don't think their roots will be a nuisance for your house. You are really good at matching your ideas with the plants to achieve them.

Thank you so much. It is one of the aspects of gardening that I enjoy the most...the research...and the 'problem solving'. :)
