staying for coffee?

this bears some looking into. Don't know how he got there... don't know how long he may have been visiting before he was seen. haven't seen our pet mouse recently... could this be why?

Hope you weren't too shocked by its appearance! An attractive creature (if it was outside..)

garter snakes are the gardener's (and farmer's) friend. they are harmless to people but are excellent rodent control... later this morning I saw another larger snake on the deck. Haven't seen our chipmunks lately, come to think of it.

Maybe you should house train it Lori if its keeping the mice at bay , not sure about the big one on the deck have you seen your little dog lately 😉 ....

just kiddin' ya, Amy! monsieur Ryot is tres bien. He's one of those little tinkers who can go from devil to angel in a second. When the snake made his way from the cabinet to the floor he had to run the gauntlet. Rufus lay stretched out on the mat by the door licking his paws and looking nonchalant... Ryot on the other had was fairly prancing and looking from me to the snake...waiting for my command. He wasn't pleased when I told him to stay and hush! I stood between Rufus and the frightened snake...and reached across to open the door... when the snake saw sunlight he moved purposefully to the door...and zip..he was GONE! to the relief of all except perhaps Ryot..who looked a little disappointed. LOL...

Jings! Rather you than me..saying that, anything that keeps the rodent population down is ok with me! ;-)

here in the boondocks we have plenty of wildlife all around us... most keep their distance but squirrels, raccoons, and field mice like to come in for the winter. the damage they can do is serious and it's hard to make the tough decisions about removing/relocating the larger animals but mice are the bane of our existance. The idea of the snake working in nature's framework was so great. They show up where their food is...and move on when it's gone. beats setting a trap line! lol..
