it was leaking and didn't hold enough water to protect my nymphaea in the winter. I drained it and dug the hole deeper and lined it with rocks, cleaned and patched the liner and now I'm going to fill it and put the plants back in.. checked it out this morning and there is already a little frog in it!

Gosh, you’ve been hard at it! That was some job you had to do! I’m sure it’ll look great again when you’ve filled it with rainwater and all your pond plants! That’s fantastic you’ve spotted a little frog already! Lovely!!!!

Thanks Amy and Kate. It's slowly filling up as we've had rain and overflowing water butts. I add a few gallons from the rainwater barrels every day. I think I mentioned yellow hollyhocks to you a season or two ago, Amy...and you kindly helped me out with seeds... I have a lovely lemon yellow hollyhock in the greenhouse growing cheek by gowl with plume poppies, lupins and mullein! thank you! I have a great sentimental attachment to them, as my Mom had them growing round our backdoor. It was always "summer" with mom's yellow hollyhocks and heavenly blue morning glories!
