My one and only sunflower opened up at last! (Helianthus annuus (Sunflower)lower)

My Giant Russian sunflower now over 6ft. I had half a dozen seeds in a packet but only one survived. I gave a couple of seeds to the little girl next door - they are doing well too.

I do hope so, Julia! I have to agree, they are difficult to grow. We started them off indoors in one of our spare bedrooms. Once they got to the full window height, we put them outside still in their pots for a bit, then planted them out.

Looks glorious - something so majestic about these big sunflowers. I didn't grow any this year. I wish I had.

Thank you Paul, I’m pleased with it! Has a sort of Tuscan feel in the garden...I wish!!!!! I would need a field full. But, yes, they are lovely to see aren’t they! Next year maybe?

Sunshine on a stick! I loved the field of these in the South of France. Makes me feel warm just thinking about it. Goldfinches will love it if you leave it to set seeds.

Thanks Paul, I was very pleased with it blooming!
It sure is isn’t it, Ange! I’m hoping the goldfinches have a peck, they are the ones that chuck all the sunflower hearts on my steps! It’s definitely evoking the Med - even though only one survived - well in my head and yours probably!
Thanks Aleyna!
