Also called yellow brain or jelly fungus or Witch’s Butter
and is most often found during the cooler months after an extended rain. It is a parasitic jelly fungus that looks a little like a brain It is a parasite feeding on another fungus, not on the wood. It feeds on a “crust fungus” member of the Peniophora genus hidden beneath the bark of the dead tree.
It is tasteless and in China it's used to give a texture to soups. Yum.

Very interesting what a vivid colour ,they look to be a similar texture to ones we call Jews ears except Jews ears are a dull grey almost transparent colour ..
