grafted apricot onto walnut

I had to recently lop down a walnut tree to about 4 feet as it was getting too large for the garden. I wondered if it was possible to graft onto it some apricot tree cuttings (i viewed a Russian video ) as being in a more sheltered position would be beneficial to retaining fruit as apricots are very early into blossom and susceptible to frosts.So ive given it a go,nothing ventured ....btw apologies to those more knowledgeable than myself.
