That’s a very pretty hydrangea, Alan. It’s full of flowers! Hoping mine flourishes as well as yours, as Paul says.

A bit lucky really, as I’m never quite sure when to ‘deadhead’. Rightly or wrongly I tend to do it in spring and suffer the appearance of all those brown dead flowers, throughout the winter.

Deadheading/pruning in spring is the 'correct' time to do it. The dead flowers offer some protection against frost to the new buds. They can look pretty rimed with frost though.

Thank you Eileen, I tended to leave the deadheading/pruning until spring and now understand why.
