Green Rose Chafer Beetle

It's a beautiful colour with a gorgeous sheen.

The larvae are quite large, a creamy colour with a brown head.

Are they destructive, Siris?

The larvae feed on humus, rotting wood and some plant roots, thats probably why I find them in the compost bins.
The adults feed on nectar and pollen, thats what this one seemed to be doing, probably pollinating the plant in doing so.

Oh, that's interesting to know. I expect you have to duck when it's on the wing!

It seemed to be busy feeding, so I left it alone. I will remove any seed pod that starts forming, not part of my breeding program
