Hope you enjoyed your lunch in Cirencester, Ange - looks a productive day also. I love the colours but I'm not an iris fan, unfortunately. I guess we're all different when it comes to bulbs and gardening. It'd be a boring site if we all posted the same things.
OH turfed some areas of our back garden in August, it was more to do with sections added rather than repair. We were lucky, it's taken well and it's quite thick and green.

I know what you mean about iris, Kate. I think the bearded irises are very pretty when they flower but after those few days they just look a mess to me! I find them hard to place, too. I like Siberian irises most but they only last a few days in flower too but don't take up so much space and their leaves are easier to 'lose' afterwards. OH was digging out some of the 'biggies' today to freshen up the clump, but I couldn't persuade him to get rid of the lot!!
As for our grass, the b***dy mole has made a reappearance in it overnight...

Klahanie, Swindon is our closest large town but it's a pretty uninspiring place; lots of sprawling newish estates. Cirencester is about 15miles from us, a smallish market town which has managed to hold on to a lot of its character. There are a number of independent shops there, not all chain stores. It was originally one of the earliest Roman towns in the country and has an interesting little Museum which makes an effort to appeal to children in its displays and activities. The church is a beauty, and there was once an Abbey in Cirencester, too. The Abbey grounds are now parkland. We visit at least once a month for a change of scenery!
