Time to say goodbye..

Our large birch is being cut down tomorrow. We planted another a few years ago, so we have another to look at and enjoy.

shame for it to go Ange2

Thanks for your comments. It took just half an hour to take it down. It is a shame that it had to go but it was far too tall, and bent alarmingly in the strong winds. All the trees that were in the garden when we came have gone now as they were planted too close to neighbours' fences. We took out 5 and have replaced with 6, excluding the upright confers which we have added too. In a few years they should be big enough to make an impact. So I'm not too guilty!

We have 2 of these Anget , growing fast. in fact most my trees will become problems I feel

I think one of the problems here, Paul, is that when landscapers plant in new build gardens they will plonk trees around the perimeter fences which can cause problems for both homeowners and their neighbours once they take off. This was on the junction of 3 gardens, right in the corner. I have no compunction about taking out trees if they are in the wrong place and trying to replace them, but I do wish the professionals would give more thought about where they plant them in the first place.
