Wind damage.

Wind damage.

Two of my three shorter growing Verbena bonariensis have bitten the dust. Snapped off at their bases in the stormy weather. I won’t grow these again. The third one has survived because it has fennel in front of it to protect it.

Karen, that's a real shame for you. It seems to me that every Summer brings high winds and stormy weather at least once in July. We found a tall Sunflower had been ripped out of the soil, it also took a couple of Geums ... :o(

I really don’t like high winds Shirley. But never mind. The Penstemons are lovely, and one of the short verbenas did survive with the help of the Fennel!

All is not lost then ... :o)
