I always thought that their black and white markings looked like a velvet black and white harlequin suit!

Beautiful are these the butterflies that migrate in their tens of thousands to Mexico?

Yes, Bonkersbon... if you can imagine anything so fragile looking making such a migration... I grow the milkweed that is their favourite food, for the nectar and for the larvae...I think there are a couple of generations between Mexico and here...but it is still a wonderful thing..if you google Monarch Butterfly you will probably find a site that has pictures of them massing in one certain area of Mexico..they festune the trees in the thousands...
