New house, new garden

This is a photo of the back garden in our house on the Isle of Wight, it's very long and thin and I'm planning a veggie garden at the end, any suggestions and good tips for the whole garden would be appreciated, it is South facing and pretty protected

The veggie garden is going to be pretty big and the soft fruit cage sounds fantastic, saw Monty doing something similar on Gardeners World recently. I am growing Blueberries, Autumn Raspberries and strawberries this year to get some practice in

Other fruit you could think about are gooseberries, blackcurrants and blackberries (there is a variety called 'Oregon Thornless' with an excellent flavour, attractive foliage and guess what - no thorns!)

All this sounds great!! We have all the ground work to do before I plant anything and we don't move in until next Summer! Long task ahead..........

Gardening with friends since

As this is south-facing and sheltered, you could make a spectacular garden of sun-loving flowers. How about a circular lawn (for your little helper to play on) with borders round it and a grass path leading through to the veggie area? Maybe roses on a trellis between the two areas. And if the veggie area is big enough, soft fruit (in a cage to keep off the birds)
