Echinops

This plant spent an unfortunate year in a too-small, neglected pot, waiting for the bed it was destined for was finished. My friend who'd raised it was most upset with me....it didn't do much in its first year of freedom, but this year, its second season, it seemed quite happy!

They're beautiful! Tell hime that they develop a fab blue glow at the edges of the "spikes" that lasts ages; later the birds like the seeds. They can get a bit dominating, so ours are restricted in a raised bed by a hedge to limit their exuberance....so far so good!
