Try a Heuchera, nice dark and light shades of red. Nice leaves not too small and not to big. It would be ideal for your pot.

You could have a .......
dwarf Knifofia (red hot poker)
Dianthus or carnations
Aquilegia
Pulsatilla (Pasque Flower)
Poppy
I have all of these in my garden, In all different colours, But you can get them in red. They are all perennial and can be left in the ground.
what would look nice in your garden, Is some Nasturtiums of the same colour winding their way through the undergrowth, their colours are so vivid, they would stand out among the green, I have red ones, they aren't perennial, but you can collect the seeds (which i do) hope this helps.
