there are a lot of these crapes in your area. They are very nice. I don't think I've ever seen them before.

There are Hywel, I think it's because they can stand the heat and bloom in the hottest months...it's a southern tree, the Virginia/Washington DC area has some, but they don't give flowers like the ones in Houston..they're very common in Georgia I think that's what Wohlibuli said....I think they bloom a lot here because come Spring they are pruned quite hard. Glad you like them. I always enjoy them! You know, Blodyn is quite a nice name, and Blodyn the cat is very cute.

Thanks Raquel. I chose my cat's name when I joined GOY because I thought it was going to be a sort of password. It means 'flower' and I didn't realise I'd actually be called that as if it was my own name.. So that's why I'm asking to be called by my real name now.
Well if the crapes like heat I don't think they'd do well here, especially this year with all the rain and winds we've had.. They're beautiful.

Ahhh! I see what you mean. The idea I think is to keep your identity a secret or less obvious to prevent identity theft. But I can never think of a good name so I just use my own! =) No, the crape myrtles wouldn't like the cold too much, though they survive the winter farther north, like in Washington, D.C. I have to admit I envy you the fall now and the cooler weather - it is still pretty hot here, and won't cool down significantly until October. Sigh. And the leaves don't turn. They just get brown and fall off, if they fall off. Double sigh. Take care, Raquel
