So sorry Lori, but I didn't get the name and the Fair is over until next year :( I should have taken pictures of the info tags too, but then I would have ended up with 400 photos instead of 200, lol :)

I'm not sure but this rose MIGHT be Gypsy Curiosa.

I tried the zoom but it was useless... Thanks Gilli...will have a look for Gypsy Curiosa... wonderful looking blooms!

From what I've been able to find GC is mostly yellow... guess I'll have to keep looking!

Try this link Lori. It seems there is quite a variation in the bloom colours. Perhaps they vary with temperature???........

Thanks for the link Gilli. I was looking at the GC and I'm sure someone posted a Double Delight on the GC page??? Must admit it's a very interesting creature isn't it?? I found a pic in a rosier of a var. called Heart o Gold...from NZ. it looks similar too...but the most interesting feature to me is that the petals are opague...and papery with scalloped (almost frilled) edges. Never realized that you could be lost for days in seemingly unrepeated pictures of legions of rose varieties!! One of the ones listed as new is "Burgundy Iceberg" it is worth a look!

The scalloped petals are lovely aren't they. Adds a bit of extra interest to the bloom. The Heart o' Gold is lovely too but I think, to me, it looks a little bit more bluey pink than the ones above.
I took a look at the Burgandy Iceberg. Its gorgeous. What a lovely rich colour. Introduced to North America in 2007 apparently. The iceberg roses are supposed to be very hardy too.
Isn't it amazing how many rose varieties are out there? The images just go on and on. My trouble is, when I see them I want each and every one of them. LOL.

yes.... I understand exactly what you mean...and then the other dilemma...where can I plant this? what was I thinking? I saw the lovely coral coloured Rosalyn Carter rose...have you seen it? What do you think of the Morden roses? I have one of the Explorer series...David Thompson...and it is a sweet scented lovely pink rose that's very hardy in my cold climate...being on the coast you must be able to grow any rose you like, aye?

Ah yes, the old "Where can I plant this" question. I do that often. I buy before I think. LOL.
I have seen Rosalynn Carter (the rose not the person). It is a beautiful colour isn't it?
I have a Morden Blush which is a flower machine. My only complaint is that the beautiful shell pink blooms turn white in the heat. But otherwise it is trouble free, prolific and very hardy. I have been on the look out for Morden Sunrise but the only one I have found in the past two years was very poorly looking so I didn't get it. Morden Amorette looks nice too although I haven't seen it in real life.
I have one explorer series. It is a John Davis climber which is nice but doesn't have much of a repeat bloom and not much fragrance. I also have a parkland series Cuthbert Grant which blooms well with large blousey crimson flowers and is very hardy.
I'm not actually on the coast. I live in the southern interior of BC. Right now the thermometer is showing -24C with a wind chill bringing down to -35C. We are in zone 4b or 5a, I'm not sure which. On the coast I could grow a lot of roses but always had trouble with black spot because of the humidity. Up here I get very little black spot or powdery mildew.

there is something so appealing about this rose...it looks so full and not overly perfect...the yellow at the depth of the flower makes it look incandescent and I can imagine that it has a wonderful smell because it has the look of an old French rose... would you know what the name of this one is? I'd be forever indebted! lol.
