I love your verbena, real compact. I get more sprawling and tall plants. I wonder if its the radiation difference in our light?

This west is different than my other gardens because its poor heavy soil and lots of heat late in the day. I think the cosmos would have flowered earlier elsewhere too. I noticed lots of cosmos blooms on my neighbor's south side. And my northernmost plant (still hasn't bloomed) seems to be stretching upward looking for sun.
I haven't done verbena before but I think this area would be a little difficult for any plant.

Verbena works great there I think. Have you gave them a good smell, one of my favorites!

I just did. Wow!! I thought I could smell alyssum walking along the path. But it's definately the verbena. Much sweeter than the alyssum too.

Ah ha! White verbena and red dianthus? This cosmo looks like its really gonna put on a show.
