I took this with my macro lense, Greenthumb....he's about 8 inches long and a very sweet fellow. Of course the crickets don't think so...but he's a very quiet, well behaved pet!

Wow, reminds me of a salamander, we only have a lot of five striped blue tailed skinks around here !

AHAHAHA! That's great... I've seen them in the pet stores. must be a kick to see them in the garden doing their little reptilian thing!! (second thought: are they reptile or amphibian?...or am I just CONFUSED!?) lol...Scuse me, just having a senior moment.

Hey Lori, are you being honest or just slightly "senior" when you say this is a very sweet fellow ?? I'd jump a mile if I were to bump into him !!

No, Terry, I'm quite serious... Opie is the quietest, best behaved pet I have.
All kidding aside...he is quite personable...he likes to sit on my shoulder, but should he decide to jump he can leap great distances...comes of living in the jungle canopy I guess. He is a practiced lurker... should see him stalk a cricket! I have a heated "stone" in his aq. to keep him warm enough...likes temps between 80 and 90 degrees F. He is curious and will investigate anything different in his aq... I have birds, a rabbit and a dog...they all have their little peckadillos... I love my gecko he is very "placid and self-contained". don't you have any lizards in those old stone walls?

Yes we do get very brightly coloured little lizards Lori - millions of them scuttling all over the place and pale almost translucent green geckos that climb the stony walls - they're supposed to bring good luck if you find one in your house - the cats are forever eyeing them down! I would honestly never harm one but I could never bring myself to touch one - I'm like that with worms and slugs too (and yet I've cooked and enjoyed snails) and as for snakes - well say no more .....

My son started my interest in geckos... he had a day gecko...they cannot be handled. My little goldie is one of the most people friendly geckos. No offence, Terry, but I don't think I could ever put a snail in my mouth...let alone chew and swallow!! I'd rather handle a python! LOL...
