All I know was they were in South America. Aren't they just stunning.
It must have been breathtaking to see them up close when you were in centeral America.

I didn't look at this when it first appeared. Thought from the thumbnail it was blue leaves and there was always plenty of time. Now I've looked I agree with the others. Stupendous.

Marguerite ~ I make no claim to the authenticity of this picture. If you google blue butterfly tree you will find this exact photo in numerous places and galleries.
I ran across it while browsing in the National Geographic site and the only thing I remember was that it said they live in South America.
I don't suppose it's out of the realm of possibility that they actually congregate in this way since they feed on rotting trees among other things.
At any rate, I do not believe these were arranged this way, but I could be wrong. I don't actually care ,as the beauty of the picture far outweighs
my second guessing it's origin. I just enjoy beauty when I see it.

This is an amazing photograph! How beautiful! Where did this happen? I saw bright butterflies like this in central america, on moisture, drinking.
