Believe it or not Jacque these shrubs are considered invasive species in some parts of the U.S. ...I have no trouble growing them here in cold old Canada...their fruit are like pomegranite seeds...a large seed surrounded by a pulpy, juicy fruit...and singular. as to birds...I've seen some check it out...great plant...makes a really pretty (and fast) hedge. :-) !
