The ground seems to be dry and compacted... am I right? Amazing flowers and leaves!

These were growing on the side of a mountain just outside Almaty. The soil was very poor and sandy

Unbelievable... we only can have them growing in pots here...and they hardy survive...
One of my patients brought me a few bulbs form holland as gift to have him walking out of a spine surgery, I'm afraid to try planting them.

Are the leaves like that because of the poor growing conditions or is that their natural shape ?.

That is their natural shape Hywel. I'd never seen leaves like that on a tulip before - very distinctive
