Is this also known as mother-in-law's tongue? Over here Christmas cactus is called "mother-in-law's tongue" - just to create a bit of confusion

Aloe vera has thorns around the leaves though

Yes...and the Mother-in-law's Tongue we are used to over here is Sanseveria, it grows very tall and erect ...not as closely enclumped as this is!...lol. had to sneak my word in there somehow!
