I love this shrub - it's of value all the year round.

In the spring and summer it gets pink blotches on the leaves as well!

I have what I thought was this plant......the leaves on mine have all turned bright red and are now dropping off......is this normal - yours looks VERY green! Also, no berries on mine...

????Strange, Sid???? Doesn't sound too good. No, it's totally NOT normal. I don't know what to suggest. Post a photo on the questions page - someone may know.
I hope it survives.

OH DEAR! And I thought it was looking so nice and autumny! Should it be evergreen then?

Yes, Sid. Definitely evergreen(+cream/pink!). Are you sure that yours is this - if you see what I mean? Did you buy it as this?

Didn't get a chance to take a photo today - got dark too early!
Barbara, back in early summer I bought the plant and it had no name tag - got it for about £1 or £2 as it was a bit straggly + no lable. I posted it on the questions page and nobody really new what it was (I think the general verdict was Photinia x f. 'Red Robin', which I could see it wasn't. Later, somebody ID'ed it for me as P. d. 'Pallette', which I looked up at the time and that's defo what it looked like. Well, I potted it up and mothered it a bit and it's put on loads of growth and (I thought) was doing well. It's got a similar pattern of variegation as your photo, plus the pink tones earlier on and reddish new growth. I have to say, for a deciduous shrub, it looks healthy to me! But for an evergreen...............?????????!

Oh dear, Sid. I shall have to wait until tomorrow to see it - yes, this getting dark early is a real pain, isn't it! I was raking leaves in the dark at 5.30 p.m. And it gets worse, doesn't it - we've only just changed the clocks! NOT ENOUGH TIME!

Ugh - I know! Dark and damp here .....
Will try and get a photo tomorrow ;-)

It is really beautiful Spritz, does it get big? and Sid I remeber this question, and i also thought it was a 'Red Robin', but that too is evergreen, sounds to me as if you have something completely different to both saggestions. did it have any flowers this year, maybe post some more pictures, of what it has been doing thoughout the year, we might have a bit more luck with the ID - so all may not be lost after all! and for now just enjoy the colouring!

No, Angie - it doesn't get big. There was one in the garden when we came and it was - hmmm - about 2'6" then, now after 4 years it has only grown about 6". I bought another one because I liked it so much, and that is the same - slow growing. Not like P. 'Red Robin' at all! Its leaves are smaller, too.

Ok Angie - I'll dig out pictures as soon as I have the time. It did have clusters of little white flowers in the summer, if that's any help...

I've just posted pictures of my shrub - hope you can help!
