Pure white with pinkish tints sometimes, Anemone form in most cases and also Lotus form sometimes. Upright and middle size flower. Two layers of outer petals are larger with very large purple or dark purple flare, which cover the area more than 1/3 petal and penetrate petals to the back. Narrow inner petals twisting upwards have the dark flare over 3/5~3/4 of petals, which look like a lion head as is named. Semi-expending or expanding plant is very vigorous and tall. Heavy fragrance, mid-blooming and fertile.
This cultivar name had been recorded in ancient literature of Ming Dynasty. It is a peak cultivar in all tree peonies, we think, because of its very special flower form and tall bush with luxuriant flowers.
