David, this is for you, for the kids on a wet day. My friend Lottie in Germany has been making these. Use a short piece of tree branch, a straight cut for the base. A sloping cut to make the face.

Obviously dad will have to do some sawing first. The face can be painted on, or alternatively, cut out a father christmas face and stick on with adhesive, depending on childs'ability

Lottie had made them in different lengths, to go in little groups. I think they are very appealing. Could be a "Father Christmas stop here", for the garden.
