He looks magnificent. Really admire birds of prey despite their carnivorous habits. There is talk locally of re-introducing White-tailed Eagles to Norfolk. They died out about 200 years ago (shot for their feathers and also for "sport"). Lots of controversy about it.

Did you get to see her fly off Irish? She is a pet, right?
27 Nov, 2008
Beautiful bird ,but I dont think I would like it on my bird table ...

they are beautiful Magnoliatree. do you think it will go ahead and the eagles will be re introduced to Norfolk?
27 Nov, 2008
aye Tracy, she is a pet and the guy let her fly off into the forest, she just flew to the nearest tree and sat there lol

OMG Not In Norfolk :O He is Lovely Eileen but As Pet Birds of Prey they should Stay ;) lol

I hope the re-introduction to Norfolk will go ahead. However, some farmers are concerned about their live-stock, but White-tailed Eagles apparently prefer carrion of larger prey. I'm not sure. What are your concerns Jacque?

Welcome back Irish, lovely photo's, dont think i'd like him near my bird table, even all the starlings that come in my garden would dissapear, mind you there would be more food for the rest of the birds that come.

They are beautiful birds Eileen , you were lucky to get to see them ! welcome back ...:0) ...The real concern of our farmers with the White Tailed Eagles in Norfolk is that they do take the young lambs and small live stock , I,m not sure who will win this arguement ..........

Im all for the Natural Wildlife returning 2 Uk ,im just affraid with such a short number of Small Birds Sparrows,Starlings,Thrushes ect ect is the Uk ready for this Hunters return ? so many other Little birds are still in Danger:/ what will the release of this Bird do 2them?
27 Nov, 2008
Think this bird similar to sea eagle Jacque that hunts predominantly on fish.No expert but think some already re -introduced in Scotland and hunt similar to Ospreys swooping down and taking fish on the wing.
Dont think they predate small birds.Take your point though theres talk of re - introducing eagle owl beautiful but a real threat to our own breeds.

~ the only birds that appear to be doing well are the ones with managed breeding programmes~no one seems to care about the loss of all our native birds~so keep feeding everyone!
