My hubby with 2 of the builders and their children. Work is a family affair, the children ARE NOT put to work but are there with Mum & Dad, rather than being left elsewhere. They just all play together, and are so happy it's untrue.
Note the size of the bricks! All made by hand!

These are rock Marguerite, ground up and mixed with cement and re-formed in shuttering moulds. But all done by hand. They are then dried out in the sun. The emphasis there is on providing work and therefore an income for people. They were so heavy my 6'4",18 stone, 54" chest hubby who is in the building trade here had a job to lift them!! The Goan people are small and light framed but the men run up and down the ladders with these with little difficulty!
They don't have all the suing/insurance scenario's there that you and I have in our countries. We never heard of any accidents, that is not to say they don't happen but whilst some of their ways are 'primitive' they also have a high regard for each other and how they do things.
The developer is very well known and highly regarded in the area so we had no doubts over buying. He has also built the hospital that is a stones throw from these apartments.
