That's what I thought at first, but the leaves are much softer. At the nursery it was under a big sign that said 'Green Flame Fern' but I can't find anything about that.

Don't know Gillian but it is an attractive looking fern.

It was not adjusting well to being indoors so I moved it to the bathroom, which prompted stupid comments from my husband such as, " Why do we have a fern in the bathroom, who are we going to call?". (He's a Peter Sellers fan if that helps to explain!)

This fern is beautiful. Probably an adaptation from the birds nest fern. Looks like it minus the frilly ends..lol. I found it on a google image search Variety of Microsorum punctatum.

I think this may be it.........
"MICROSORUM GREEN FLAMEPPAF - is a superior and vigorous selection of Microsorum punctatum which originated in Europe. The fronds are broad, succulent, glossy and have abundant leaf cresting. With the added upright growth habit, this fern is a true retail "eye catcher". Growers benefit too from excellent bench space utilization. Market for both indoor & patio beautification."
Have a peek at this photo.....

Thank you both, I think that's it! Now I understand why it didn't want to trail like a birds nest fern, it prefers to grow upright!
Many thanks.
