Beautiful - you can't buy that in a shop!! Chris: What is he sitting on? What's on the inside of the box - just a void or is there lathes on the inside for him to climb? Sorry to be so curious.

Nothing in the box just their nesting material and he must just be clinging to the wood - when the nest was cleared out there had been two eggs but only one hatched!

Shame the other didnt hatch Chris but at least you have lovely Brooklyn! Did you put any wood shavings in there initially? I presume there are drainage holes in the bottom. Sorry for all the questions but very curious.

Hi Dawn, Yes we do put sawdust and drainage holes in the bottom - We cleared the nest out after last year and got it ready for this year with new sawdust and a few wood shavings.

I haven't seen them in the garden yet - just hear them an awful lot and it is still too early to see them coming in and out of the box yet! Also the weather has been so terrible that I have been cooped up indoors for what seems like a lifetime!

I know, the weather's been dreadful, you must be very excited and keen to get out and start work on your new garden.
