Hi Blodyn. This house is what we refer to as a 'Queenslander' - an architectural style common in this state from late 19th century to around 1940's - and these ornate posts with their decorative fretwork are a standard thing. They are all around the verandahs.

This is sooooooooooo gorgeous! What a lovely place to 'chill'out.
