So do i ,the gardens look great, but the roads are not fun at all............

have you had any of the grit trucks around your way Egg, i have not seen one! - not even along the A12 or main roads, i think it has melted along most of the main roads but all the side streets are about 2" think of black ice, no one seems to be usuing their cars at all. - rightly so, i have walked everywhere, yet all over the news they are saying about how many people are pulling sickies at work, yet how are they ment to get in if roads are unusuable? ridiculous.

Yes i know,my road is never gritted, and if you do go out your car slids out the end of our road,as there is a small hill,And if you try to come back you have to try to make a run up,And hope you get to the top without stopping or you just wheel spin,i have not moved my car yet,i walk, but even thats unsafe and icy.My sons bus could not even get up the next road to pick him up for college yesterday, due to lack of gritters,And his college was open but too far to walk to,why dont they grit the roads enough,IT'S A JOKE.......

~apparently we are running out of grit!
~My son drove myself and Husband to hospital yesterday after he had broken his ankle on ice the night before. There didn't seem to have been grit put anywhere other than the M4 which we were on briefly just before we got there~It was a bit hazardous to say the least! The M4 still had snow everywhere and just ahead of us before we turned off it was totally stationary after a lorry had jacknifed.
How come everyone in every other country manages and we don't?

Even over here, where we are used to driving on snow and contending with icing...people seem to forget their driving skills in the first storm! Learning to allow more time(and space) when slowing and stopping is key...with slow acceleration and moderate speed you can manage to get where you are going safely. (that's why the lorry jack-knifed...it had to stop or slow down and the trailer wanted to slide forward ...had no where to go but sideways!!) Just keep an eye out for the yahoos! Not to worry, Arlene, you can be thankful that this is a rare event...drivers just need to slow down and not do any quick maneuvering...lol. But as has been said...time to stay at home if at all possible...so that emergency vehicles can travel unhindered... They use salt to melt ice and snow on our roads and it is very corrosive...if we didn't treat our cars they would become rust buckets in a few seasons... and the salt isn't good for the environment either!

sorry to here about hubby, yes i did hear on the news last night, that up your way they was running short on grit,i couldn't believe what i was hearing, less than 1 day of snow and no grit........................you have just got to wonder why people laugh at us all over the world.

~we use salt here too Lori and it has as you say lots of adverse aspects~no doubt it is cheaper~but for all that apparently in short supply over here!

my son has just got in from college,And he say's there are no gritt on any pavements round here, They are just sheets of ice.............
