I think they are blissfully snoozing...breathing about once a minute or thereabouts!! How deep is it Sid?

Poor wee creatures, but Lori is probably right. Survival is the name of the game out there!

Lori - it's deep enough (I hope?!) 2 ft I think.

Eggbox - ooo I hope so! I haven't yet decided who will be going in a bucket for a few weeks - the fish or the frogspawn :-)

Oh Sid...please help the frogs ... I had three little guys in my pond last autumn...I fished them out and put them in the flower beds where the digging was easy.... hope they went for it...cause they'll be frozen solid if they're in the water!! (No place to shelter in my new pond, fishies are indoors til spring.) when I dug my first pond the specs were for four feet depth because at that level the soil temp is about 50 degrees year round...some winters the frost goes into the ground that deep! we have special building codes for foundations, etc. because of the heaving of the ground when the spring thaw comes!

Think it's partial delirium Barbara!

Lori - I believe with the sort of frogs we get here, the females spend winter at the bottom of ponds, while the males hide in holes or under leaf litter etc. Or it may be the other way round...but you get the point! I'm concerned the fish will eat the frogspawn, so either the fish or the spawn will have to go in a bucket..... You certainly get some scary temperatures over there Lori - inch of snow here and the country grinds to a halt! Weeeellll, we're just not used to it..... ;-)
