i was thinking of maybe having the steps rebuilt,so they are on one side and smaller, giving a lrg flat surface and the whole backyard paved.

sounds good Blue, or you could Level it from the bottom step and you would have a nice space for a small Patio set..

Hi ,
You could keep the steps and have a big planter on the opposite corner to the door or remove half the width of the steps so you create a natural planting area for climbers to train up against the wall opposite the door. You could easily grow Clematis or Jasmine in this area.

HELLO AGAIN! well, its been 2yrs since I posted on here asking for advise on how to help my backyard look nice! Well,I never got round to it as I was concentrating on our 108yr old house! Finance as been a big issue so as you can imagine the outside was the least of my worries,lol....
Anyway,I'm hoping to now get this space sorted...I have given up the idea of paving and have settled for the cheaper option of pebble gravel and a few stepping stones, which arrive tomorrow.
I did get some plants for the space last yr which have been great. I have an acer tree in a lrg pot, hostas[ sprouting back as I type] ferns and some flower pots...
I'm all geared up to getting a clematis and jasmin climber and I was wondering if I could grow these in lrg pots ? Also,if I have these climbers growing up against a trelis on my back wall where the bin is,what do I use to secure the climbers?
I have been looking a buying some annuals for hanging online, but most only deliver to the Mainland and I live in Belfast, does anyone have any suggestions on websites I could use?
Thanks again for the encouragement in 2009!
