Hellebore -- Helleborus Orientalis (Lenten rose)

I have one flowering at the moment, plenty of buds but not yet blooming. These look very happy.

is this after the snow?

Hi Sandra, no this is actually last February, it's a bit behind this year due to snow and cold. Just coming in to bud. Being new to GOY, and a bit thick, I didn't realise that when you put items in yourgarden plant section that any pictures with them went on the members pictures page of the site. So, when I realised, I felt a bit of a fraud as it would suggest it was now. Sorry. I'll get the hang of using this web site eventually, I hope!!!!!

Hi Paulthergardner, Could you look at the photo I posted of the hellebore and let Jacque and I know if it's the same as yours as we don't know the name.

I wish I know if mine is blooming like this. I always cut all the leaves off in the Fall so I can see the flowers better in Winter/Spring time

Yes Doon, I quite often remove leaves on some of my other kinds of Hellebore to see the blooms better, but it always seems a shame because they are lovely glossy leaves aren't they.

Yes they R gorgeous Paul, but you know how "hungry" we get for those blooms, so I get wild with my shears. I must say some I leave alone, but the more robust ones I shear.
