I agree it is a beautiful site, but it must cause problems. I must admit i have never seen snow on that scale, as far as i can remember. I'm sure if we were to have snow like this the country would grind to a halt.

We are having freezing rain today, Mark. Believe me, that brings us to a halt... In 1998, we had a number of consecutive ice(freezing rain) storms go through this area of eastern Ontario and Southern Quebec, It downed many miles of the electric transformer towers and blacked out areas from Ottawa to Kingston, to Montreal and down into New Brunswick. a HUGE geographical area...No power, No heat. It was traumatic. Everyone owns generators now..and the city I live in allows people to drive snowmobiles on streets...simply because in that emergency, they were the only way to get around. You no doubt find it strange, be very thankful for that lovely gulf stream current. LOL.

Despite the damaging storms, which we could do without for sure, and despite the seemingly endless wait for springtime, I can't imagine not having snow. I love the stimulating fresh crispness of winter, the dazzling red flash of a cardinal against a winter wonderland backdrop, the peacefulness of enforced traffic silence during snowfall. If only we could order it in smaller, better planed doses!
