Lords and Ladies

Oh is that what they are called. I have those but I do not know how they got there.

Just had a look in my Wildflower Book and confirmed that it is Arum maculatum (Lords and Ladies) and not Arum italicum.

I have these all over the garden - I think I've given up trying to get rid of them.

Oh, I always thought is was A italicum.....I wonder what the difference is?

A.italicum looks more like Alocasia (veiny leaves) in the pictures I've seen. Apparently italicum flowers a little later too.

Thanks Bbz - I'm not familier with Alocasia, but I know there's a variety of A. italicum with silvery markings on the leaves. A. maculatum seems to have very variable purple markings on the leaves - I'm surprised nobody has tried to breed an interesting garden plant from it, trying to get some good patterning in those leaves.
